2015 Kids In Need/Dollar General Literacy Foundation Reading Scholars Program

Purpose: Have an idea for an innovative literacy project? The Kids In Need and Dollar General Literacy foundations are offering grants for projects designed to "improve the literacy of preK to 12th grade students." Projects should be original and should be completed during the upcoming 2015-16 school year. Grants can be used for supplies that let students create a project, conduct an experience, grow a garden, or learn a new skill. Projects should include hands-on activities that lead to "new knowledge, awareness, or self-discovery in the area of literacy."

Eligibility: Pre-K – 12 certified teachers teaching in the subject of the project at public, private, charter, or parochial schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia in the U.S.  Kids In Need currently DOES NOT fund home school projects.

Amount available per project: Winners receive grants between $100 and $500.

Deadline for Applications to Funding Agency: September 30, 2015

District Guidelines: An Intent to Submit form must be completed and sent to the Office of Community Development before applying for any grant for Humble ISD. Please contact Adrianne Holmes at the Office of Community Development at 281-641-8141 for more information.
