Chevron Fuel Your School Program

Purpose: Chevron’s Fuel Your School program supports education in your school and community by helping educators receive funding for eligible classroom projects. Chevron believes that education is one of the foundations on which to build our state’s future. Through a shared vision, Chevron is working with DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that organizes funding for eligible projects in public schools all over the country. In this way, Chevron can help teachers get the supplies they need for classrooms in our community.

Fuel Your School is simple: Throughout October, everyone can help their local schools by filling up at participating Chevron and Texaco locations. Chevron will donate $1 per 8-gallon or more fill-up, up to $1 million, to support public education at schools in Harris County, Texas.

1. How Schools Participate: Schools participate by submitting classroom project requests to the DonorsChoose.org website for approval for posting during the Project Submission Period. Schools must be eligible to participate and classroom project requests must be submitted by individual Eligible Project Submitters.

a. Eligible Schools: All K-12 public schools in Harris County, Texas are eligible to receive funding.

b. Eligible Project Submitters: Teachers, librarians, guidance counselors and school nurses that meet DonorsChoose.org eligibility requirements at eligible schools may submit classroom project requests.

c. Eligible Classroom Project Requests: Approved classroom projects are eligible for CHEVRON funding if material costs are Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000) or less per project. Projects must meet DonorsChoose.org eligibility requirements. More specifically, according to DonorsChoose.org requirements, teachers with four points or more can request up to $2,000 in materials and all other teachers can request a maximum of $800 in materials. Field trips are not eligible for funding through this Program. CHEVRON recognizes the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education to the future and CHEVRON encourages classroom project requests that support STEM education.

d. Project Submission Procedure: Eligible Project Submitters with DonorsChoose.org accounts can log in to their already existing accounts and submit an Eligible Classroom Project Request. Eligible Project Submitters without accounts can request an account at www.donorschoose.org/teacher and then submit an Eligible Classroom Project Request under that account. CHEVRON will fund up to one (1) posted Eligible Classroom Project Request per Eligible Project Submitter.

2. How Projects Are Posted and Made Available for Funding: DonorsChoose.org will review each classroom project request submitted to confirm that the project and submitter meets the eligibility requirements. Once DonorsChoose.org approves the classroom project request, DonorsChoose.org will post the project on its website and the project will be available for funding.

Amount available per project: $800.00 - $2000.00

Project Posting:  You can post your projects on DonorsChoose.org from September 1, 2013 to November 30, 2013
